Highways England: M4 Junction 13 (Chieveley) to 12 (Theale) – Weekend Closure Rescheduled

Due to Storm Alex and the heavy rainfall, the resurfacing work which was due to take place over the weekend of 2-5 October had to be cancelled.

We have now rescheduled this closure to take place from 9pm on Friday 16 October through to 6am on Monday 19 October.

The M4 eastbound carriageway will be closed between junction 13 (Chieveley) and junction 12 (Theale/Reading), with traffic diverted from junction 13, south down the A34 and A339 into Newbury, then east all the way along the A4 to re-join the M4 at junction 12.

Significant delays and congestion are expected during these weekend closures due to the increase in traffic on the diversion route. We advise you to plan your journey and allow extra time or avoid this route if possible.

Please note that this closure is subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. We’ll advertise the closures on yellow signs placed in advance at the junction/alongside the road.
