Over the last few weeks Thames Valley Police have received reports of bicycle thefts in the Newbury area, especially in the town centre. The thefts are occurring in public places as well as from sheds, garages, front and back gardens.

Arrests have been made in connection to some of the bicycle thefts but it is still continuing.

Thames Valley Police would like to remind residents to lock bicycles when leaving in a public place, ideally using a ‘D’ lock as these prove more difficult for the thieves to cut and we also recommend using a bike lock when keeping in a shed or garage.

Please report any suspicious incidents, sightings or any information to Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 101, also please check your CCTV Cameras, Ringcam or Dashcam.

Please register your valuables at immobilise and encourage friends, family or neighbours to receive this type of message by registering with Thames Valley Alert.

To report a theft of a bicycle call 101 or report online.

Please ensure that you have made a note the make and type of your bike along with the serial number, also take a photograph. For further crime prevention advice please visit our website.
